Tervetuloa kaikille avoimeen lukupiiriin commonseista – eli yhteisistä ja yhteistekemisestä!
Verkkolukupiirissä luetaan Silke Helfrichin ja David Bollierin teos:
Free, Fair and Alive – The Insurgent Power of the Commons (New Society Publishers, 2019, 448 s.).
Lukupiiri kokoontuu noin kerran kuussa Jitsi Meetissä osoitteessa https://meet.okf.fi/commonsfi.
Ensimmäinen kokoontuminen on 7.2.2024 klo 19-20:30. Kevään aikataulusta ja lukupiirin toimintatavasta sovitaan tarkemmin ensimmäisessä kokoontumisessa.
Lukupiirin kielenä on suomi ja englanti.
Mikä opus?
Kirja Free Fair and Alive on commons-liikkeen avainopuksia. Se antaa kokonaisvaltaisen ja käytännönläheisen kuvan commonseista ja siitä, miten niitä rakennetaan. Sen avainsanoja ovat yhteinen, yhteistekeminen ja yhteisvaraus.
Kirja on myös vuonna 2021 traagisesti kuolleen Silke Helfrichin arvokas perintö yhteisten puolesta. Yhdessä David Bollierin kanssa kirjoitettu kirja jäi Helfrichin viimeiseksi.

A reading group on the commons and commoning
Welcome to our reading group around the commons and commoning – around what we have, hold and reproduce in common!
The first book of our reading group is:
Free, Fair and Alive – The Insurgent Power of the Commons by Silke Helfrich and David Bollier (New Society Publishers, 2019, 448 p.).
The reading group will gather online in Jitsi Meet: https://meet.okf.fi/commonsfi.
We will be meeting once a month, starting from Wednesday 7.2.2024, from 19 – 20.30. The spring schedule and the way the group will operate will be agreed at the first meeting.
The languages are Finnish and English.
What book?
The book Free, Fair and Alive is a key textbook for the commons movement, and provides a deep and comprehensive overview of what the commons is all about. Its keywords are the commons, commoning and the commonwealth.
The book is also the priceless legacy of Silke Helfrich, who tragically died in 2021, to the commons movement. Written together with David Bollier, the book remains the last one by Helfrich.

The reading group reads the book, and through this wants to explore the experiences abd reflections of the participants about commoning and the commons. Participants will take turns to act as pre-readers of the parts to be read.
