Mapping the commons and solidarities/Solidaarisuustalouksien ja commonsien kartoittaminen. Suolahti, Tampere ja Helsinki

Three time workshop series on the solidarity economy and the commons. Kolme työpajasarjaa solidaarisuustaloudesta ja commonseista.

In this project, we want to map out communal resources and solidarities different local actors have and how
these could be strengthened. Shared resources and ties play a key role in people’s daily subsistence and
well-being, especially during times of social transition. We also offer a shared publishing platform for
everyone involved in the funding round.

The aim of our project is to raise awareness of the commons and commoning practices, and open up
solidarity action to generate communal substance and well-being. The project explores what the commons
means to different parties, what kinds of solidarities exist between different actors, and how these could be
further strengthened. The project is based on the idea that the opportunity to enjoy the commons and
participate in maintaining them are fundamental to human well-being and substance, while paving the path
for a paradigm shift towards a sustainable future.

Commons.fi is a collective that has been operating since 2014 as a volunteer project with the aim of
promoting discussion and action related to the commons, community and solidarity economy. We publish
the commons.fi online magazine, organize discussion events, and network community activists throughout
Finland. Commons.fi acts as an informal group, consisting of a little over a dozen people. Even if we have
never enjoyed funding, our activities are well-established and organized. We expect this funding to give new
strength and ‘boost’ to our activities.

Äänekoski/Suolahden Kansantalo 23.9.2026 10.00pm

The Suolahti workshop will be held as a solidarity workshop where participants will explore what
community and solidarity mean to them and how they could be further strengthened in Suolahti. The
workshop will be held at the community center in collaboration with Suolahti Työttömät ry (Suolahti
Unemployed Association). Commons.fi has an established collaboration with the unemployed association.

Suolahden työpaja järjestetään solidaarisuustyöpajana, jossa osallistujat pohtivat, mitä yhteisöllisyys ja solidaarisuus heille merkitsevät ja miten niitä voitaisiin vahvistaa Suolahdessa. Työpaja pidetään kansantalolla yhteistyössä Suolahden Työttömät ry:n ja Suolahden kansantalon väen kanssa. Commons.fi:llä on vakiintunut yhteistyö kyseisen työttömien yhdistyksen sekä Suolahden Kansantalon kanssa.

Missä Tampereella on yhteisöllisiä tiloja ja paikkoja? Missä on mukava hengata kavereiden kanssa tai vaikkapa pitää palaveri? Mitä Tampereen paikkoja luonnehtii turvallinen ja hyvä yhdessäolo, ja missä ihmiset liikkuvat ilman kaupallista pakkoa?

Yhteinen Tampere -kartoitustyöpajassa merkitään Tampereen kartalle paikkoja, joita luonnehtii yhteisöllisyys ja joissa toteutuu yhteinen hyvä ja vapaa yhdessäolo. Kyseeseen tulevat niin ulkotilat kuin sisätilatkin. Tehdään yhteinen Tampere näkyväksi!
